Safety at Faru

The wilderness is wild — that's the point. But wild doesn't mean unsafe. Here's exactly how we keep every Faru adventurer protected.

Safety Standards

Certified Guides Only

Every Faru guide holds a Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA) certification or equivalent. No exceptions, no shortcuts.

Wilderness First Aid

All lead guides are Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certified. Every trip carries a fully stocked medical kit including emergency oxygen.

Weather Monitoring

We monitor conditions 72 hours before every trip. If weather presents unacceptable risk, we reschedule — always with full refunds or credit.

Pre-Trip Briefings

Every participant receives a mandatory safety briefing before departure covering trail hazards, wildlife encounters, and emergency procedures.

Risk Assessments

Our team conducts formal trail risk assessments for every new route and re-assesses seasonally. High-risk conditions trigger automatic rerouting.

24/7 Emergency Line

A Faru safety officer is reachable 24/7 during any active trip. Satellite communicators are carried on all remote expeditions.

Participant Responsibilities

1

Disclose any medical conditions, injuries, or medications at the time of booking. All information is kept strictly confidential.

2

Carry the recommended gear list provided for each trip. Underprepared participants may be turned away for their own safety.

3

Follow guide instructions at all times on the trail. Guide decisions on route, pace, and turnaround are final.

4

Stay within the group. Never venture ahead or fall behind without informing a guide.

5

Do not attempt trails that exceed your declared fitness level. If unsure, contact us and we will match you to the right trip.

6

Report any symptoms of altitude sickness, injury, or discomfort immediately — never push through in silence.
